Hawaiian Pancake & Cafe Merengue

We ordered a savoury pancake and it really surprised us. It was really good! The homemade syrup was amazing too! Highly recommended!

Charming and sweet place for a great brunch/breakfast and especially nice to bring visiting out-of-towners. We were a party of 6, sat pretty quickly on a busy day. We were rushing to a flight, so they sped up the service for us. Great place, great food, great service, quintessential Amsterdam location.

Went with one savory (apple, bacon and we added ham), then one sweet, bananas, chocolate and whipped cream. I think we ate it all. Coffee was awesome and what a great place to eat. My inner fat kid came out

What a good place to visit. Lovely staff, werry friendly and they all look like they love their jobs. We came in and were taken to the seats, given a menu that blew my mind. I don't think I've seen as many different types of pancakes. And let me tell you, the pancakes are amazingly good. I'll take the time next time I'm around, and look in again. Thanks for the service and the delicious pancakes.

Big and delicious pancakes. A bit pricey but definitely worth it. We also liked the ambience and the staff is friendly. Even thought they’re located in a quite place, they still do have a lot of visitors, which’s quite impressive and speaks for itself.

One of the old original pancake bakeries. The quality is indeed outstanding and way different from the average pancake! They offer different kinds of, from salty to sweet, including seasonal options. We loved them all! The downsides are that there will be probably a long waiting time, the waitress are busy and therefore the service is not very friendly and efficient, and also a bit expensive for a pancake. Anyway, it's a one time experience that I strongly recommend when in Amsterdam!

This place was amazing. We heard about it from numerous articles and videos and it did not disappoint. I could've eaten here every morning. Get there early or be prepared to wait. We arrived around 8:30 a.m. and were the first couple there, followed by another, and another. All waiting for doors to open at 9 a.m. After doors opened and we were let in the -lace filled within 20 minutes and had a line the rest of the day.

Cozy venue, relatively busy when we came in the mid-afternoon. Ordered two pancakes- one sweet and one savoury, and tried the Dutch coffees as well. Dutch coffee was tasty (warning: it does contain alcohol). Pancakes are pretty large. The bacon, cheese and mushroom pancake had a nice crisp to it. The mocha pancake was a little too sweet for me, but my partner enjoyed it. Overall the food was quite nice (but nothing spectacular), however be prepared to wait a very long time for your food though... I would rate it 3.5 if I could.

Delicious food!! Too much for a person with only one pancake. Vegetation options are also available and staff will help you to select their famous pancake with your preferred choice. I guess because of its popularity, rates are bit higher. One can eat pancakes from around 8-17€.

Great spot for breakfast right before touring the Anne Frank house. I got the pancake breakfast (1 large pancake, bacon, tea and fresh squeezed orange juice) and it was filling and delicious. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing brunch here on a Sunday! The staff were very helpful and friendly in guiding the lineup outside the restaurant to their tables. The food was amazing, especially the International Pancakes (see photos). The portion size of the pancake is best for two people. Overall a great experience and would definitely come back if I was in Amsterdam! 10/10

This is a great place, and the food was very good. The location is cozy, a little tight for my taste, but I'm not a particularly small person. The pancakes are really good, and the number of options is quite impressive. The pancakes are quite filling, and one serving easily covers your lunch needs. We got our food quickly, and enjoyed our stay. Recommended!

Best pancakes I had whilst in Amsterdam! Went on Pancake Day so we weren’t missing out on the festivities back home and very glad we chose to go here, a great range of savoury and sweet pancakes. My partner got the Canadian pancakes which were €16, but we got 25% off that with our I Am Amsterdam cards. I went for the pancake breakfast which was €13, came with a plain pancake, bacon, syrup, orange juice and a tea or coffee of my choice.Gets quite busy so be prepared to wait a little!

One of the best place for pancakes... sweet or savory whatever you want... they have variety of choices one can choose from.Taste amazing... prime location... friendly people.Place can be very crowded depending on time. Gotta wait to be sited... but overall great experience.

Awesome choice to experience Dutch pancakes, both traditional and non traditional. Everything was delicious. Make a reservation to skip the long lines!

Get there early! Be there at 10:00 to get a seat and be served fast. The menu can seem expensive but you get a significant amount of food.

French savory and the Brazilian poffertjes both were amazing. Vegan batter available. Sunday morning wasn't busy but as we were leaving 11:30 they had started to become very busy. Best pancakes ever.

The pancakes were amazing. We tried french, Dutch and season special pancakes. It was heavy and full. Very tasty.

It's an OK place. Probably one of the better places in Amsterdam, but definitely nothing to write home about. Staff are not that nice.Place is usually clean and not too noisy.

This place should be marked in your Amsterdam checklist. Best pancakes and omelette I ever had. My whole gang is in love with this restaurant now. Will definitely visit this and enjoy their amazing pan cakes in our next trip as well.

We are really pleased with the choice of visiting this local gem. The location is not so easy to be found but we don’t mind it. The pancake has that crispy thins and the mixed chess melting inside it is just out of words. Sometimes, it might be a queue. It goes very quickly. If we had stomach, every one on the menu is so tempting for try. Love it.

Pancakes with all you need inside them.Traditional cakes at an affordable price.I recommend going 4 times In a row.

Normally, I'm not a fan of apples but I loved the apple and bacon Dutch pancake. It wss very filling and the bacon serving was quite generous. The waitress was friendly and very attentive to people waiting in the line. We waited for about 20 minutes.

Hands down the best pancakes we have ever had. There is usually a wait to be seated, but it's well worth the time for the delicious Dutch pancakes. There are so many tasty choices; each handcrafted to perfection.

Simple yet delicious every time. I personally prefer the savory combinations, but the sweet pancakes are a nice try too. Just wish there were more options with berries. The hot chocolate, coffee, Irish coffee and bailey’s coffee are yum! Service quality can vary based on your server (had a good one a couple of times and a grumpy waitress the other time I was there). Come prepared to wait given this place is always busy.

Very quaint interesting ambience. Yum absolutely yum savory and sweet pancakes... It's a Must Must do if you are visiting Amsterdam.

Attention! If you order something with chicken here, you get chicken ham.. which wasn’t what I wanted. I told the waiter about that and kindly asked him to change or return the pancake. He gave me a professional NO as an answer, because “it was already made”... Do not recommend this place. Do not think this attitude suits a famous restaurant like this.

Amazing full blown pancake. Made me really full.Would recommend to go for savory one or international. Sweet pancake is a bit like huge dessert. If you see queue outside - it will move fast as there are a lot of seats inside. Highly recommended.

I came here off the recommendation of my friend Matthew Holden - a resident of Amsterdam. After a delayed flight and then speedy train into the Dam a brisk 15 min walk landed me at this establishment. I had the Apple and Bacon traditional pancake alongside a hot chocolate with cream. It was good, but it did not blow my socks off. They gave us sweets at the end which was nice. Pricey but that is to be expected in Amsterdam.

Very small entrance but quite a large sitting place inside. Its best to reserve before you go. The service was pretty fast. Friendly waitresses. We had ordered different types of Pancakes. Mostly Savoury. Thai Pancake was the best, second was Chillean and then the Mexican. Rest all were average. All Pancakes are freshly made. But I found the prices a bit on the expensive side.

Excellent. We visited for breakfast after someone local recommended the place and were not disappointed. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The pricing was very reasonable for Amsterdam. Would definitely visit again.

This place did not disappoint. You always don’t even noticed as you’re walking down the street; however, once inside it has great ambiance. You step down into a long, narrow and dim lit space. It was so warm and inviting. The Dutch pancakes are HUGE! Definitely enough to share; however, we didn’t know that until we ordered and got our food. My husband got an omelette and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. You’ll need to ask for your ticket as they’ll just leave you be for a very long time.

Atmosphere is great, savory pancakes are good to. But the sweet pancakes are sickening. To much of everything slopped on. To sweet and way to much for a pancake. It's just a desert from a bowl slapped on a Lemon and sugar pancake.

Deliciously made drinks and food! It's a small entrance and you might walk right past it if you're not paying attention. Great price

Nice place great atmosphere for a breakfast.. Unfortunately pretty crowded and therefore somewhat slow service.. Pancakes are super thin and if you expect the American style one you will be in for a surprise.. But the food in itself was awesome, loved the pancake and the other dish I had..

Very good food with cool atmosphere. Hot chocolate was amazing. Would definitely try and go for some more savory pancakes next time. The Greenland one was listed as savory but was more sweet due to the honey

I’ve been dreaming of these pancakes since I first heard about this place in Amsterdam and I have to say that they exceeded my expectations. Soo delicious and such a cozy spot. Can’t wait to return!

This place is fantastic. It's in the basement of a typical canal house, and the place is deceptively large so you can usually walk in without a booking. Just watch your head when you go through the door!There is a lot of variety in the food, including traditional pancakes, dishes inspired by regional cuisines (thai curry pancake, anyone?) and sweet pancakes which really pack a punch. The servings are surprisingly generous and none of us at the table left wanting more, rather needing to be rolled out.Prices vary from cheap and basic to $$ and extravagant. You can get a decent meal for around ten euro.Overall I recommend The Pancake Bakery because it's always been a great night of food, friends and big fat pancakes.

Incredible service!! Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday and we ended up getting free Poffertjes :DThe pancakes are amazing and they have A LOT of options!!The only thing is that I would recommend to do a reservation instead of go straight through.

The dishes are big and satisfying. Not what I expected, it resembles crepes rather than waffles which I found baffling. You can choose from a menu but you can also add and replace I ingredients. The staff was friendly. The service girl seemed tired and slow in their movement.

Great food, cozy atmosphere, and banging coffee. Just know, Dutch pancakes are much different than any other pancake you've had. It's like a mix between an american pancake and a French crepe but the size of a dinner plate.

While others are more of a meal type.We had a ham and pineapple, I had a regular breakfast, we also ordered a ice cream one. It reminded me of churro like pastries you can get at fairs.Be warned these pancakes take awhile to cook, so there is a wait. Add that the popularity of the place. I noticed some customers getting annoyed with the wait times.It is a cool unique spot to hit up.

We stop at the Pancake Bakery every time we're in Amsterdam and we leave STUFFED. I stick with the sweet pancake options mostly. Such a cool little spot but get here early morning as the waits can be lengthy.

We went for lunch on a Friday and we were able to get a table very quickly. We had 2 savoury pancakes (Greenlandic & French), and we were very satisfied. Pancake are big and filling are generous. A little bit pricey (37€ for 2 specials and 1 beer) but definitely worth a try.

They have the most amazing pancakes. Sweet and savory. They taste delicious. Also the staff was very nice and always ready to help. Should you see a queue in front of it.... That's normal. Waiting is worthwhile!
